Chichi is a sensual well rounded Caribbean figure. She represents the vibrant, dynamic and responsible older sister.
The colorful and hand-painted figure by local craftsmen and painters at Serenas Factory, is popular a symbol of Curacao. The ceramic figures are hand-sculpted and come in different sizes and shapes, usually with colorful dresses that represent the island vibrant colors and curvy bodies. Besides a very beautiful souvenir, the Chichi Doll has also a deep meaning. In the language of Papiamentu (Curacao native language) Chichi means the older sister who binds the family in a loving and caring way. She symbolize strength and is a much respected role model in the community.
